Whitfield probably had more score assists last year as well. Was kicking pretty well and was in everything early in games. Covers the whole ground and kicks a lot.
Not sure what this years prospectus will say but last years prospectus said his kicks inside 50 resulted in a mark the 3rd most of the top 100 players with kicks inside 50.

Dunno what the answer to his improved scoring is but don’t see him dropping his scores. Runs all day, racks them up and is an elite kick. Heard he had ankle surgery so something that could affect him.

Unbelievable how much that helps my decision around starting structure this season
Really? I was planning on a stronger forward line, as traditionally forward rookies are the lowest scoring, this probably makes things harder for me, as I may need to restructure again now. I guess there may now be one less option to consider for my team, that's about it.

Not sure how this changes things?

Nothing I have read/heard had Heeney becoming a full mid, always expected him to split his time fwd.

Question is probably if someone else is justified as a better choice than him but the fwd line is pretty bare and he is a known quantity at least.
I think it just adds to the information.
He has an injury interrupted preseason (not necessarily endurance base, certainly touch)
Has exposed form pushing forward (cf last year, some ankle impact but high variance, shed 80k vs starting price at bottom-out)
Franklin fragility adds uncertainty
He’s working against the 8% starting inflation without much visible improvement potential
Points to lower value and maybe more suitability as an upgrade target as it stands.
But agree, fwd stocks are bare and we haven’t seen any Marsh form / who of other options will rule themselves in / out of contention.

…...Jack Martin perhaps played his best football at Gold Coast as a half-forward, where he was able to demonstrate both his class with the footy, and his physicality and attack on the contest without it. But he also spent periods both in the middle and across half-back.

While the Blues believe he will split his time rather evenly between forward and midfield, they're confident he will have an impact regardless of where he lines up come round one.

"He's only slight in his body type, but he's aggressive and he's obviously quite skilful," Carlton's midfield coach John Barker said of Martin...…..
"I've got no doubt he'll spend some time in the midfield. How that pans out will be determined over the next four to six weeks through more match simulation...……...

Jack Ziebell... great ceiling when playing well as a mid (6x120+ last year), goes missing plenty.
2019 ave in wins: 108.8
2019 ave in losses: 76

That's crazier than a key forward. Will he unlock some consistency now he plays more midfield and isn't required to be thrown forward quite so much? I like a R14 bye but he feels like a trap.

He's been in my side the last 2 years and does go missing for quarters, I don't think he'll be in my side this year, I'll look to change things up.

Don’t know if this is accurate / other outlets are going with different information, but it sounded like he is battling a calf injury.
Still enough time for it to settle if it’s true:
